Lewandowski’s Bayern Munich Career

Lewandowski said in November 2013 that he would sign a pre-contractual agreement for Bayern Munich, the rival team of Borussia Dortmund.

Transfer

International career

2007–2013: Youth level and early international career

In 2007, Lewandowski started playing internationally for Poland’s under-19 squad. In addition, he would play three times for Poland’s U21 squad in exhibition games against Finland, Belarus, and England.

Three weeks after turning twenty, on September 10, 2008, he made his senior national team debut against San Marino. He came on as a substitute and scored a goal in a 2-0 victory in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

2013–2017: Assuming the captaincy

In his debut game as captain on March 26, 2013, during the 2014 World Cup qualification campaign, Lewandowski scored two penalties in the team’s 5–0 victory over San Marino.

He equalized against Montenegro in a 1-1 home draw later in the campaign on September 6. Poland was not granted entry into the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

Lewandowski earned his first international hat-trick on September 7, 2014, away against Gibraltar in Poland’s first UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying match. Poland won 7–0.
