Entry Requirements for diploma programmes 

The following is a list of the requirements prospective diploma students at UPSA are expected to meet to be eligible for enrollment.

  • Candidates for WASSCE In addition to passing any three elective subjects with an A1–D7 grade, students must also possess passes in the three core disciplines of English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science/Social Studies.
  • GBCE/SSSCE candidates Minimum of three core subjects (English, Math, and Integrated Science/Social Studies) with credit passes (grades A–D) is required.
  • Additionally, credit passes in any three elective topics are acceptable. Advanced G.C.E. level possesses passing grades in any two GCE “A-Level” courses in addition to passing the general paper.
  • Must have completed five subjects with credit passes (at least Grade 6), including any science, mathematics, and English at the GCE “O” level.

Entry Requirements for Undergraduates

  • WASSCE, or the West African Senior School Certificate Examination
  • Exam for Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE)
  • Exam for General Business Certificate (GBCE)
  • A minimum Final Grade Point of 3.0 in Grade 12 at American High School

In addition to any three elective subjects, applicants for the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE)/Cambridge GCE “O” and “A” Level WASSCE and SSSCE/GBCE must have at least credit passes.

That is grades A1–C6 and A–D, respectively in three core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science/Social Studies.

Entry Requirements for Undergraduates (Mature)

To be considered for admission, mature applicants must meet the following prerequisites:

By Friday, June 28, 2024, at least twenty-five (25) years of age have been reached. You must also be able to present a birth certificate that attests to your age, proving you were at least five (5) years old when you applied.

Candidates must be able to present a letter of appointment from their company or other documentation proving their employment and must have at least three (3) years of work experience.

Additionally, secondary, technical, and vocational education from a second-cycle school is required. You must also pass the aptitude test, English language proficiency test, and mathematics portion of the university’s mature access course entrance examinations.

If a mature applicant has a passing grade of 40% on each paper, they will be considered to have passed the entrance exams for admission consideration.

Entry Requirements for Post-Graduate Courses

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited university or other institution together with

a)  a second class lower or better

b) a third class, but to determine whether they are qualified for admission, these candidates must first go through screening and a selection interview.

• Full professional qualifications that are recognized and relevant, such as ICAG, ACCA, CIMA, CIM, CPA, ICSA, and CIB.

International candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and have been recognized by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) as having done so. Applicants from non-English-speaking nations will need to provide proof of their language proficiency.
