About KCA
The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) founded KCA University in 1989 as Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) to raise the standard of accounting and financial management education in the nation.
The college was established following a study in 1987–1988 by the UK’s Chart Foulks Lynch (CIPFA) services.
According to the survey, Kenya needs 400 more certified accountants annually to support its economy. The training facilities produced less than 100 certified accountants.
When it first started offering its services in 1989, it enrolled 170 students, but that number rose dramatically over time, to the point that enrollment now exceeds 12,000 pupils annually.
To maintain a national focus, the college opened campuses in Kitengela, Kisumu’s CBD, and Satellite College in Amagoro.
The idea of turning the College into a university was conceived in 1997. Enrolment numbers in 2000 showed a considerable increase, particularly for foreign courses.
KCA successfully introduced diploma and degree programs after partnering with the University of South Africa (UNISA) and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
