Ekurhuleni West Technical, Vocational, Education, and Training College (EWC) is a public institution governed by the FET Colleges Act No. 16 of 2006, as modified. It was formed under the Further Education and Training Act, Act No.98 of 1998, as stated by the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education (Gauteng Province) in a Provincial Gazette Extraordinary (dated 7 December 2001).

Ekurhuleni West TVET College is in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng Province, South Africa. EWC addresses a wide range of populations and has six (6) campuses: Alberton, Boksburg, Germiston, Kathorus (near Katlehong/Vosloorus/Thokoza), Kempton (in Kempton Park), and Tembisa.

The name “Ekurhuleni” is derived from the geographical and municipal areas (the Southern Service Delivery Regions [SDR]), namely Germiston (the regional center), Alberton, areas of Boksburg, Katlehong, Thokoza, Vosloorus, and sections of Freeway Park, and the Northern Service Delivery Region [SDR], namely Kempton Park (the regional center), Tembisa, Edenvale, including Bedfordview and Primrose, in which the College is located.

“Ekurhuleni” translates to “place of peace” in Xitsonga. “Ekurhuleni” was derived from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, while “West” was derived from the Western Belt within the Municipal territory, which houses all campuses.

EWC Online Applications

To  apply to EWC:

  • Visit the EWC online portal.

EWC Registration Fees

EWC registration fee of R245.00 per qualification will be paid, regardless of whether the student enrolls full-time, part-time, or for an exam only. Rewrites, extra tests, and approved correspondence providers are the sole options for the exam. Where applicable, student card fees will be R100.
