The initiative is part of the department’s SIBI project, which aims to support the sheep industry to capitalize on growing markets for sheep products.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing research programme.
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the sheep industry.
Scholarship Award: The program offers financial support for eligible research as follows:
- Up to $5,000 for Honours (stipend) plus operating
- Fortnightly payments at the rate of $38,000 per annum for
Two years for Masters and operating;
Three years for PhD with the possibility of extension, plus operating.

Eligibility: Researchers and supervisors from Western Australian Universities are eligible to apply for WA Sheep Industry Scholarships.
Nationality: Researchers and supervisors from Western Australia are eligible to apply.

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have previous degree.
How to Apply: Researchers and supervisors from Western Australian Universities are encouraged to work together using the application form attached. Applications need to be aligned to at least one of the SIBI outcomes and will be assessed on their own merit.
- Honours and Masters Projects: Once the successful Honours and Masters Projects have been informed funding arrangements and administration will be established through the participating institution.
- PhD Projects: Once successful PhD Projects have been informed a partnership agreement between the University institutions and the department will be established to manage the administration. Student allocations will be based on annual milestones achievements.
