ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF GENEVA:

The University of Geneva  is a public research university located in Geneva, Switzerland.

It was founded in 1559 by John Calvin as a theological seminary and law school. It remained focused on theology until the 17th century, when it became a center for Enlightenment scholarship. In 1873, it dropped its religious affiliations and became officially secular.Today, the university is the third largest university in Switzerland by number of students. In 2009, the University of Geneva celebrated the 450th anniversary of its founding. Almost 40% of the students come from foreign countries.

The university holds and actively pursues teaching, research, and community service as its primary objectives. In 2016, it was ranked 53rd worldwide by the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities, 89th by the QS World University Rankings, and 131st in the TIMES Higher Education World University Ranking.

UNIGE is a member of the League of European Research Universities (including academic institutions such as Amsterdam, Cambridge, Heidelberg, Helsinki and Milan) the Coimbra Group and the European University Association.

Admission and fees:

UNIGE’s academic year runs from mid-September to mid-June. It is divided in two semesters, each one being concluded by an examination session, held respectively at the beginning of January and at the beginning of June. An examination session is held at the end of August and beginning of September as a retake for students who failed their January or June examinations.

During the three days before the start of the new academic year, the Journées d’accueil (Welcome Days) are organized by the University to introduce the new students to the city and the facilities, tips are also given on how to succeed at university. A second chapter including city tours, outdoor concerts and animations is also organized by the student association UniAccueil (AUA) to celebrate the new academic year.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF GENEVA INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP:

The International University in Geneva is an accredited academic institution offering undergraduate and graduate programs in Business Administration, International Relations, Media and Communication and Computer Science Management.

As the University provides instruction in English, non-native speakers are required to present a IELTS or TOEFL or another equivalent English proficiency test. Students who do not pass the IELTS or TOEFL examination are required to follow an English language course in their first year at the IUG.

LEVEL OF STUDY:

This scholarship is available to pursue bachelor degree

FIELD OF STUDY:

scholarship is available for the following fields: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSc-CS) Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication (BA-MC)

HOST NATIONALITY:

This scholarship is to be taken in switzerland

ELIGIBLE NATIONALITY:

The scholarship is an international scholarship

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS:

This scholarship covers a certain percentage of the students tuition fees, and this will be  maintained throughout their studies, these scholarships will be merit-based

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENT:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

The Bachelor of Arts in Media Communication (BA-MC) is designed for high school graduates interested in pursuing careers in media and communication.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSc -CS) is designed for high school graduates interested in pursuing careers in Information systems programming and IT management. The BSc-CS program covers all key aspects of systems analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment as well as IT service, security and project management.

English Language Requirements: As the University provides instruction in English, non-native speakers are required to present a IELTS or TOEFL or another equivalent English proficiency test. HOW TO APPLY:

Interested applicants should submit a motivation letter no longer than 300 words explaining why they are the right candidate. The letter is to be addressed to Professor Claude Cellich and is to be sent together with their completed online application.
