The Cambridge Commonwealth, European & International Trust was established on 1 August 2013 from the merger of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and the Cambridge Overseas Trust.  These were established as charities by the University of Cambridge in the 1980s in order to provide financial support for international students on degree courses at Cambridge.

Today, the Trust is the largest provider of funding for international students at Cambridge, working with partners worldwide to support students of outstanding academic merit under a variety of scholarship schemes.

Course Level: Studentship is available to pursue PhD programme.

Study Subject: Studentship is awarded to investigate rejuvenation of metallic glasses within the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy.

Scholarship Award: The studentship is fully funded, covering fees and a tax-free stipend (currently set at £14,553 per annum). Applicants must satisfy the eligibility and UK Research Councils criteria for EU residency and liability for ‘home rate’ fees.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

  • Applicants should have (or expect to be awarded) an upper second or first class UK honours degree at the level of MSci, MEng (or overseas equivalents) in a relevant subject (Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry,) and should meet the EPSRC criteria for UK/EU residency and liability for ‘home rate’ fees to be eligible for a studentship.

Nationality: UK/EU students are eligible to apply for this studentship programme.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: Applicants should have (or expect to be awarded) an upper second or first class the UK honours degree at the level of MSci, MEng.

English Language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.
