History Bursaries are open for Irish students funded by Universities Ireland. These bursaries are provided for pursuing postgraduate study in the field of history and other related subjects as literature, politics, economics, sociology and religion.
This scheme is aimed primarily at students of history, although it is also open to students from other related disciplines such as literature, politics, economics, sociology and religion to apply.
Universities Ireland promotes collaboration between universities in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Universities Ireland (UI) promote and develop cooperation between their institutions.
Course Level: These bursaries are available to pursue postgraduate programme.
Study Subject: These bursaries are awarded in the subject of History, literature, politics, economics, sociology.
Scholarship Award: There are four bursaries of €6,500 and they must be taken up for the academic year 2017-2018. While it is not required that the study is completed in 2017, there will be no further award for study in following years.
Numbers of Scholarships: Four bursaries are available.
Scholarship can be taken in Irish or British university.
Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following area for these bursaries:
- These bursaries are open to all students currently registered at (or who have graduated within the past five years from) a university or other higher education institution and who have been accepted (or are confident that they will be accepted) onto a post-graduate course at an Irish or British university on a topic to do with the 1912-1923 period in Ireland. This bursary scheme is open only to students beginning a PhD by research/Masters, not those who have already embarked on one.
Nationality: Irish applicants can apply for these bursaries.
