Top 25 Masters Scholarship for Chemistry Students

Chemistry is the scientific discipline involved with compounds composed of atoms(elements, and molecules), their composition, structure, properties, behavior and the changes they undergo during a reaction with other compounds.

The discipline addresses topics that borders on how atoms and molecules interact through chemical bonds to form new chemical compounds.

As a subject, chemistry occupies an intermediate position between physics and biology. It is sometimes called the central science because it provides a background for understanding both basic and applied scientific disciplines at a fundamental level.

Such kind of chemistry include: plant chemistry (botany), the formation of igneous rocks (geology), how atmospheric ozone is formed and how environmental pollutants are degraded (ecology), the properties of the soil on the moon (astrophysics), how medications work (pharmacology), and how to collect DNA evidence at a crime scene (forensics).

Chemistry is a very broad discipline divided into several major sub-disciplines. There are also several main cross-disciplinary and more specialized fields of chemistry.

The major sub-disciplines are: Analytical chemistry, Biochemistry, Inorganic chemistry, Materials chemistry, Neurochemistry, Nuclear chemistry, Organic chemistry, Physical chemistry, and Theoretical chemistry

Chemistry interdisciplines are traditionally grouped by the type of matter being studied or the kind of study.

These include inorganic chemistry – the study of inorganic matter; organic chemistry – the study of organic (carbon-based) matter; biochemistry – the study of substances found in biological organisms; physical chemistry – the study of chemical processes using physical concepts such as thermodynamics and quantum mechanics; and analytical chemistry – the analysis of material samples to gain an understanding of their chemical composition and structure.

Many more specialized disciplines have emerged in chemistry in recent years, such as neurochemistry – the chemical study of the nervous system.

Financial aids are available from undergraduate to doctorate level in the field of chemistry. These aids are either school specific, organization specific or race specific.

Below are some Scholarships/awards/fellowships available for students across countries who wish to pursue their career in the field of chemistry.
