Leo Baeck Research Fellowships for International Students in Germany, 2020
This program is now open on offer to students pursuing their doctorate degree who carry out research studies into the history and way of life of Central European Jewry in the academic year 2020. This fellowship is structured to end in September 2020. Projects on any period or field such as literature, philosophy, history, musicology and any regions including Europe, Israel, the Americas, as long as they relate to German-speaking Jewry are good to enroll for this program. Beyond this, it is open to doctoral candidates of any nationality, studying at any university. Aside the one year financial support, peers from around the world are provided with opportunities to exchange ideas.
Fellows numbering up to twelve will be selected for the program in the academic year 2020. This fellowship provides support for scholarship holders via organizing regular workshops and an intranet platform which enables scholarship holders to present their research and have methodologies and findings discussed among their fellows. German and English are the working languages.
To apply for this scholarship program, University degree(s) with outstanding marks is required, the date of applicant’s latest degree should not be before February 2015 and formal qualification for doctoral studies/acceptance on a doctoral program at a recognized university is required too. Furthermore, there should be a research project having its focus on the history and culture of Central European Jewry.

Bestowed by a humanitarian from Philadelphia who passed in 1979, this Doctoral Fellowship is awarded by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation for $25,000 over 12 months of full-time dissertation work. Students that have graduated from English literature departments that are researching issues that are related to religion or ethics reflected in writing could apply. US citizens or resident aliens that are eligible are mandated to be PhD candidates, holding ABD status at accredited universities, and are expected to get done with their dissertation process within two years.
