SCHOLARSHIP NEWS: PTDF Begins Selection Of Candidates For 2018/2019 Scholarship
The interview of PTDF shortlisted candidates for the award of Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) 2018/2019 overseas scholarship (MSc and PhD) will commence today six centres across the geopolitical zones of the country.
Kalu Otisi, the Head, Press and External Relations, PTDF, disclosed this in a statement, saying the interview sessions will hold simultaneously in six centres across the geopolitical zones from today Monday 9th to Friday, 13th April, 2018.
He said that qualified candidates have earlier been shortlisted for interview, the next level of screening for the overseas scholarship which is under the Fund’s strategic partnership with Germany, France and China.
According to the Fund’s spokesman, the interviews kicks off at 10am simultaneously across the six centres, which includes University of Port-Harcourt (ACE CEFOR Building) Port-Harcourt, for the South-South, University of Ibadan (PTDF Complex) for South-West, PTDF Tower, Abuja, for North-Central, University of Nigeria, Nsukka,(Department of Geology) Enugu state, for the South-East, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi (PTDF Complex) for the North-East and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (CBN Centre of Excellence, Samaru Campus) in Kaduna state for North-West respectively.
The Fund with the mandate of developing indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry, earlier invited applications from suitably qualified candidates for Overseas MSc and PhD Scholarships to specific programmes at selected Institutions in the United Kingdom.
The PTDF Scholarship Scheme for UK Universities offers candidates the opportunity to benefit from a diversified pool of knowledge and the facilities offered by world-class institutions in the United Kingdom.
Under this scheme, candidates are invited to apply through PTDF to specific programmes at partner institutions in the United Kingdom (full list of sponsored courses is available below). The award includes the provision of flight tickets, payment of health insurance, payment of tuition and bench fees (where applicable) as well as the provision of allowances to meet the costs of accommodation and living expenses.
As part of its efforts to continuously improve and streamline its programmes, the Fund has reduced the number of partner universities in the UK to 15 top universities where it feels the scholarship’s high standards can be maintained and the objectives of the scheme will be best served.
