The Ron Brown Scholars were once like the GPS students, so they can perfectly guide the junior students from hardship into America’s top colleges.
Just as students can only take the Ron Brown Scholarship program in the U.S, so is it available to only U.S citizens or Permanent Citizens. However, the eligible US citizen must be an African American.
Ron Brown Scholarship Worth
The Ron Brown Scholarship Program 2019, like the other years since its inception awards qualified students $40,000 towards their educational expenses. This scholarship award is for the whole duration of the program the scholar is enrolled for in college.

Early Applicant Deadline:
RBSP will consider Interested applicants who complete their applications by November 1st and these applicants will be eligible to have their contact information forwarded to a select number of additional colleges and scholarship providers. If you apply under this deadline, you must make the appropriate designation on your application. However, you are still responsible for submitting materials to any colleges, universities, and scholarship programs for which you are interested.
This is the Final postmarked deadline. You must submit your application by this date for RBSP to consider you for the 2019 Ron Brown Scholarship Program ONLY.

RBSP notifies Semi-finalists.
RBSP notifies and invites finalists to participate in a weekend selection process in Washington, D.C. at the expense of the Ron Brown Scholar Program. Members of the RBSP National Selection Committee interview finalists. As part of the process, RBSP expects finalists to participate in several activities during the weekend. Then, they select scholarship winners on the basis of their application materials, interviews and participation in weekend activities.

Ron Brown Scholarship FAQs
You must mail application materials in one packet. You should also not send Transcripts and letters of recommendation under separate cover. Also, RBSP will not consider incomplete, e-mailed or faxed applications.
RBSP asks for two letters of recommendation. Your high school guidance counselor, teacher, or principal should write at least one of these. Anyone who knows you well and can attest to your character, leadership ability, commitment to community service, or academic achievement may submit the second letter. This person may be your employer, coach, or mentor. It cannot be your mother, father, or guardian, however.
RBSP requires either SAT (Verbal and Math) or ACT (composite) scores. Results of SAT II (Subject Tests) and AP exams are optional. Record the required scores on page 1 of your application in case they don’t appear on your high school transcript. You should also take the SAT I or ACT no later than the November test administration so that the scores are available when you submit your application or shortly thereafter.
