Rangel Graduate Fellowship Program, USA
Applications for the Rangel Fellowship Program are now being accepted. Only U.S. citizens are invited to apply. They will be undertaking master degree in the area of relevance to the Foreign Service, including international relations, public policy, public administration, economics, or business administration. A range of benefits will be given to the winning fellows. The application deadline is September 21, 2017
In 2018 the Rangel Graduate Fellowship plans to award 30 fellowships of up to $37,500 annually for a two year period for tuition, room, board, books and mandatory fees for completion of two-year master’s degrees. This includes up to $21,500 per year for tuition and mandatory fees and an academic year stipend of $16,000.

Eligibility and Criteria
- The Rangel Graduate Fellowship Program is a U.S. Department of State program, administered by Howard University that seeks to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers as Foreign Service Officers in the U.S. Department of State. Candidates must be graduating seniors or college graduates with strong academic records and a desire to promote positive change in the world. The Rangel Program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service and those with financial need. Selected fellows will receive support for graduate school and will enter into exciting and rewarding careers representing the United States overseas.
- Fellows must use the fellowship to attend two-year master’s programs at U.S.- based institutions to study an area of relevance to the Foreign Service, including international relations, public policy, public administration, economics, or business administration. Upon successful completion of the two-year fellowship and Foreign Service entry requirements, Fellows join the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State, embarking on a uniquely rewarding career of international service. There is a five-year service obligation.
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be seeking admission to graduate school in fall 2018 for a two-year program at a U.S.-based institution
- Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale at the time of application
