Applications are currently ongoing for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program in Canada.
The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) Program provides funding to students in graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels. It’s a merit-based scholarship, with awards available to graduate students attending participating schools in Ontario in all disciplines of academic study.
The OGS program is jointly funded by the Province of Ontario and the university awarding the scholarship. Ontario contributes two-thirds of the value of the award and the university provides one-third. This year, Ontario provided about $30 million towards these scholarships and participating schools provided $15 million.

The scholarship is open to international candidates
OGS awards are based on the number of terms your consecutive studies within an academic year:
- $10,000 for 2 consecutive terms of study
- $15,000 for 3 consecutive terms of study
One term study periods are not eligible for OGS consideration.
Each OGS award is issued for a minimum of one academic year (i.e., two consecutive academic terms) and a maximum of two years (i.e., six consecutive academic terms).
Who Can Get The Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program in Canada:
You must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for this scholarship:
- You’ll be in graduate studies in the master’s or doctoral level
- You’ll be enrolled in a full-time program for 2 or more terms (21 to 52 weeks in total) for the academic you’re submitting your application.
- You’ll be attending a participating Ontario school, as follows:

OGS applications are normally available in October. Each participating school has its own unique OGS application.
If you’re applying to more than one graduate program at different schools, you must complete an OGS application for each of the schools you are planning to attend.

What Happens After You Apply
OGS is a merit-based scholarship. Your application will be assessed and ranked using criteria determined by the school you’re planning to attend. All successful applications will be notified by the school that you’ve applied to.
