The Health Professions Scholarship Program, HPSP, was created to train future health care providers. In exchange for some or all of the tuition fees, the recipients of these scholarships commit themselves to become a designated officer in one of the following areas: US Navy, US Air Force or US Army.
Founded more than 40 years ago, these scholarships have helped thousands of promising service providers to receive an education of their choice. The scholarships vary slightly depending on the branch chosen.
For future and current medical school students, the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) offers two-, three- and four-year military scholarships. The HPSP covers civilian medical school tuition, pays for fees, provides a monthly living stipend and includes a signing bonus under certain conditions.
Prospective students compete for scholarships that cover some or all of the medical school years. The Air Force offers one- to four-year scholarships, the Army offers one- to four-year scholarships and the Navy offers three to four-year scholarships.
While on scholarship, the financial expenses of tuition, certain academic fees, a monthly stipend, mandatory books and equipment, and a laptop rental are paid by the student’s sponsoring service.
