  • This scholarship is not available for postgraduate students the aim of this scholarship is to encourage blacks of America to stay and finish their undergraduate programs.

Scholarship Worth:

The Herbert Lehman education fund scholarship has an elastic worth in the sense that when this scholarship is won by an individual he/she stands a chance of receiving the scholarship money for 4 years.  The scholarship is worth $2,000 per year and $8,000 for 4 years.

Scholarship Requirements:

To apply successfully for this scholarship, you must meet the following requirements;

  • To be eligible for application:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen Graduating high school senior, a first-year student in an accredited four-year college, or a student transferring from an accredited four-year college Financial need
  • Record of academic achievement
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service

Catharine Lealtad Scholarships are named for Macalester’s first African American graduate, Catharine Lealtad ’15.

These scholarships are for selected African American, Latino, and Native American students with strong high school records.

CBC Spouses Education Scholarship

Amount: $8,200

The CBC Spouses Education Scholarship is for African-American or black students for all majors who are preparing to pursue or are currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree full-time at the U.S. accredited college or university.

A minimum 2.5 GPA is also required. Students must also exhibit leadership ability and participate in community service activities.

USA Performing Arts Scholarship

The CBC Spouses Heineken USA Performing Arts Scholarship is open to full-time students with majors in the performing arts including drama, music, dance, opera, marching bands, and other musical ensembles.

Charles Shelton Veterinarian Medicine/Technology Scholarship

The Charles Shelton Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide educational scholarships to African-American students pursuing a degree in veterinarian medicine or veterinarian technology.

Scholarships are awarded to individuals who have demonstrated an interest in and commitment to animal welfare.


Chips Quinn Scholars Program

CSUB C. Richard and Audrey Barnes Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was established by C. Richard and Audrey Barnes to assist need-based students in pursuit of an undergraduate nursing degree. Award Criteria: merit and financial need, enrolled in the undergraduate nursing program, a member of an underrepresented minority group.


Denver Alumnae Chapter Scholarship

Amount: $6,000

The Denver Alumnae Chapter Scholarship is a needs-based scholarship. Applicants must be African-American females who are graduating seniors attending a Denver Metropolitan area high school and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Students must also have applied to an accredited four-year college or university. Must not be a daughter of a Delta.
