In an attempt to help in the building and development of tomorrow’s leaders, Comcast NBC Universal is running a scholarship program which provides $2million every year in scholarship for senior high school students who have shown unique qualities in academic performance, community service, and leadership skills.
Having been running for years now, the Comcast Leadership and Achievers Scholarship Program have provided more than $30 million in awarding scholarships sponsorships to almost 28000 exceptional high school students. For the 2019 to 2020 school year, Comcast anticipates awarding a $2500 scholarship package each to about 800 students or more.

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program is a scholarship award program for exceptional high school senior students that is powered by Comcast NBCUniversal.
All students who meet the basic requirements can apply for the scholarship program. Today leaders and great achievers who were funded by the Comcast foundation recognizes students who are high school seniors from Comcast communities who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership skills, and community service.
The scholarship program is organized to motivate young people and give them the opportunity to further their education for a better chance to compete in the workplace tomorrow.
The administration of the program is handled by Scholarship America, which is the largest developer and managers of scholarship, tuition assistance, and any other type of education support programs for foundations, corporations, association and individuals in the whole country.
The driving philosophy behind this scholarship program is to provide young leaders with the opportunity to be trained and prepared for their future and also engage them in their various communities.
The program is also hinged on the importance of demonstrating civic responsibilities and involvements as well as the value placed on the involvement in civic responsibilities by the Comcast Corporation business community.
A Brief History
The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program was established in the year 2001 to recognize and reward high school senior students who have demonstrated unique qualities in different areas of their academic, social and career lives.
The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program is also targeted at assisting selected beneficiaries of the program financially to further their education to college.
Over time, since the scholarship program was founded in 2001, almost 27000 high school senior students from different parts of the country have benefited from it as receivers of scholarship packages from the program.
The last edition of the program which was for the 2018/2019 academic year saw about 82 students from throughout Washington receive scholarship packages to help them further their education among other numerous recipients.
Level/Field of Study
The scholarship award program is meant for students who wish to attend accredited nonprofit college, university or institutes of vocational/technical training in the United States and have demonstrated unique community service, academic performance, and leadership skills in their local schools.

Recipients of the award which is funded by the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation will get a one time $2500 payment which is to be used for expenses that are undergraduate related. Annually, more than 800 scholarships are awarded and schools are not limited to a specific number of applicants or recipients anytime.
Going further, a number of students will be selected from the total awardees to receive the founder’s award which is another $2500 scholarship package.
Recipients of the Comcast NBCUniversalFoundation Scholarship Awards may also be eligible and open to more scholarships at higher educational levels like Gustave G. AmsterdamLeadership Award and even the Comcast Founders Scholarship Awards, an award given locally from the pool of Leaders and Achievers Winners who are eligible.
Eligibility for Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship 2019
In order to qualify for application into the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program, applicants must meet these eligibility requirements:
- Reside in a community served by Comcast and/or in one of the following NBC or Telemundo markets: Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, El Paso, Los Angeles, McAllen (TX), New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Diego, and Washington, D.C.
- Must have a demonstrated commitment to community service, with outstanding qualities in integrity, character, and leadership
- Have a plan and must be willing to enroll in a full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year university or college in the United States for the whole of 2019-2020 academic year
- Be enrolled as a high school senior
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
- Demonstrate financial need
Race, religion, color, creed, age, gender, sexual orientation, nationality or disabilities do not constitute the factors for consideration in any way or at any level for this scholarship award.
People who are employed under the Comcast NBCUniversal or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates, their children, or any other member of their family are not eligible for any of the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program Awards.
