Imperial College London is inviting applications for a 3.5-years, fully-funded PhD studentships (2017-18) for 10 applicants within the Centre for Blast Injury Studies. These studentships are open to home and EU candidates who meet the College’s PhD programme entry requirements.

Imperial College London is a public research university located in London, United Kingdom. The Imperial Institute was opened by Queen Victoria, who laid the foundation stone in 1887 and Imperial College London was granted a royal charter in 1907.

Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

Course Level: Studentships are available for pursuing postgraduate research (PhD or MD(Res)) programme.

Study Subject: Studentships are awarded within the Centre for Blast Injury Studies.

Scholarship Award: Studentships cover three years of Home-EU tuition fees and provide a 3.5-year, tax-free stipend at the standard Research Council United Kingdom rate (£16,553 per annum for 2017-18). In addition, a generous allowance is provided for research consumables and conference attendance.

Number of Scholarships: For 2017-18, ten CBIS studentships are available.

Eligibility:

  • Home and EU candidates who meet the College’s PhD programme entry requirements are eligible to apply.
  • Entry onto the PhD programme requires an undergraduate degree at 2A-level or higher and, normally, a master’s degree with merit or higher (or non-UK equivalents) in engineering, any of the physical sciences, mathematics, biological sciences, physiology or medicine.

Nationality: Home and EU candidates are eligible to apply.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement:

  • If students intend to apply for a Masters degree the College minimum requirement is a UK Lower Second Class Honours degree. The majority of programmes have higher requirements, usually a minimum of a UK Upper Second Class Honours.
  • For admission to a PhD, MPhil, MD (Res) or EngD research programme the College would normally expect you to hold or achieve a Master’s degree in addition to a Bachelor’s degree at UK Upper Second Class Honours Level.

English Language Requirement: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
