The Schulich School of Engineering was originally conceived on, September 28, 1964, at the first meeting of the Engineering Council as an engineering faculty. The new school was officially approved and received teacher status on April 1, 1965, and was officially opened for the fall semester of the same year. The total enrollment of the first year of 59 students was taught by two faculty members.
McMaster University has earned an international reputation for offering innovative educational programs.
