Entries are now submitted for 2017 South African Journalism Students Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC), open to all journalists especially final year undergraduate students in journalism.This program is to hold in South Africa.

About the Award: The Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC) is the premier international gathering of investigative and data journalists, held once every two years. This year, the 10th conference will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from November 16 to 19, and is being co-hosted by the Global Investigative Journalism Network and the Wits University Journalism Programme. GIJC17 will feature more than 100 exciting panel discussions, workshops and networking sessions. Here’s a chance to learn from the best in the field and enhance your skills with the latest tips and tools.

There will also be time to get to know your fellow investigative journalists from around the continent.

We have fully-funded places for a number of South African journalism students.

At GIJC there will be opportunities to hear some of the best investigative journalists in Africa and South Africa talking about their stories and sharing their skills.

Eligibility: Only students currently in their final year of an undergraduate journalism degree, honours or master’s degree in journalism are eligible to apply for a bursary to attend the conference.

Value of Award: The bursary contributes towards your travel costs to the conference and return; your hotel accommodation in Johannesburg – at Stay City in Berea http://www.staycity.co.za/; meals, conference fees and ground transport to and from the conference.
