TWAS─Abdool Karim 2017 Prize for Women Scientists in Low Income African Countries

The TWAS─Abdool Karim annual Prize, sponsored by the TWAS Fellow Quarraisha Abdool Karim, encourages women scientists for their excellence and achievements in Biological Sciences.

About the Award: This new prize, named after TWAS Fellow Quarraisha Abdool Karim, carries a cash award of USD5,000 generously provided by Professor Abdool Karim. It is designed to honour women scientists in Low Income African countries for their achievements in Biological Sciences.

Eligibility: Eligible candidates are female scientists who has been living and working in a Low Income African country for at least the two years immediately prior to their nomination. For a list of eligible countries, please see below.

Rep, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Equatorial, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Ask the nominee to send by email the following authorization to “In conformity with Article 13 of the Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003, I herewith authorize TWAS to process my personal data for the purposes of my nomination as a candidate for a TWAS Prize.”
