Brief Description

The University of Manchester Postgraduate Research Studentships is now open for 2017-2018 entry. Students of all nationalities are eligible to pursue postgraduate research within the School of Mathematics.

The University of Manchester is a public research university in Manchester, England, formed in 2004 by the merger of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and the Victoria University of Manchester.

Course Level: Studentship is awarded to pursue Postgraduate research.

Study Subject: Scholarship is available within the School of Mathematics.

Scholarship Award: Scholarship helps with home tuition fees and maintenance.

Number of Scholarships: Normally 10-12 scholarships each year will be awarded.

Scholarship can be taken in the UK

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship.

  • Students must have a first class honours degree, or possibly a good upper second class honours degree in Mathematics at Masters level or an appropriate related discipline.

Nationality: Students of all nationalities are eligible to apply for these studentships.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: Students must have first class honours degree.

English language Requirements: An IELTS certificate is not required at the time of application. If you are shortlisted for the scholarship, you will be asked to take the IELTS test. English language requirements vary by course, but in most case, you will need a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (with no sub-test less than 5.5) or TOEFL 570 (90 IBT) to go through to the final selection round. They do not accept a Certificate of English Proficiency from a Rwandan university instead of the IELTS test. They can take the IELTS and TOEFL tests in Kigali. Contact the British Council or TOEFL test centre for details.

How to Apply: Applicants should highlight on their PhD application form that they wish to be considered for an EPSRC DTA Award or a School Scholarship Award.
