Rothamsted Research in conjunction with Cranfield University are jointly offering studentship opportunities for students from EU, pursuing PhD programme at Rothamsted Research.
The aim is to accelerate innovation by bringing together engineers, information technologists, natural scientists and soil scientists with business. Students will be co-supervised by Rothamsted and Cranfield scientists.
Rothamsted Research, previously known as the Rothamsted Experimental Station and then the Institute of Arable Crops Research, is one of the oldest agricultural research institutions. Partly through these methods, researchers at Rothamsted have made significant contributions to agricultural science, including the discovery and development of systemic herbicides.
Course Level: This studentship is available to pursue PhD programme.
Study Subject: The studentship will be awarded in Soil science. The studentship is awarded within the topic A loss function approach to optimal sensor configuration for soil sensing.

Scholarship Award: Sponsored by Rothamsted Research and Cranfield University, this studentship will provide a bursary of £17,500 p.a. (tax-free) plus fees* plus research consumables for 3.5 years.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for Studentship:
- Applicants should hold a minimum of a UK honours degree at 2:1 level or equivalent in subjects such as a Natural Science, Environmental Science or Engineering. A full driving license and fluency in English is also required.
- RCUK eligibility rules apply. To be eligible for a full award a student must have no restrictions on how long they can stay in the UK and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least 3 years prior to the start of the studentship. To be eligible for fees -only award, a student must be ordinarily resident in a member state of the EU
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirements: Applicants should hold a minimum of a UK honours degree at 2:1 level or equivalent.
English language Requirements: The candidate should have a very good command over the English language.
