Three young Cambodian women were awarded full scholarships to study in the United States under the sponsorship from U.S.-based non-profit SHE-CAN, which connects talented students with mentors and top-level U.S. universities.

Soun Love will study journalism at the University of Minnesota; Seakguech Sok will study environmental biology at Beloit College in Wisconsin; and Ung Aidy will study civil engineering at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. All three will begin their studies this fall.

“I’m so thrilled knowing that I’m going to land in the United States – the land of opportunity and possibility,” Soun told the Embassy. “My dream to becoming an investigative journalist will come true!”
SHE CAN works closely with the Cambodia Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and with the Embassy-supported EducationUSA advising center to recruit and select candidates for the program.

This is the second year SHE-CAN has helped Cambodian women to study in the United States. You can find out more about SHE-CAN on their website: www.shecan.global.
