Loran Scholars Foundation in partnership with universities, donors and volunteers across the country are delighted to offer the country’s largest and most comprehensive four-year undergraduate Scholarship (valued at $100,000) to young Canadians on the basis of character, service and the promise of leadership. Only Canadian Students pursuing their Undergraduate Studies are welcome to Apply. Deadline is October every year

Loran Scholars Foundation, we identify and support young people who have the integrity and courage to make difficult decisions, the perseverance to work towards long-term goals, the curiosity to better understand the world around them and the drive to make positive change in their communities.

Our Awards

Renewable for up to four years, with a total value of $100,000, each Loran Award includes:

  • An annual stipend of $10,000
  • A matching tuition waiver from one of 25 partner universities
  • Personal mentorship from a Canadian leader
  • Access to our network and up to $10,000 in funding for summer internships in three different sectors
  • An orientation expedition through Algonquin Park
  • Annual retreats and scholar gatherings

We also grant approximately 104 finalist and provincial awards to promising candidates who are not selected as Loran Scholars. Read more about our different awards.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for High School Students

  • Be in your final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school.
  • Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%.
  • Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
  • Be at least 16 years of age by September 1st of the following year.

Eligibility Criteria for CEGEP Students

  • Be in your final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in CEGEP. If you are planning to attend university outside of Québec after only one year of CEGEP, you can apply in your first year of CEGEP.
  • Present an R score equal to or higher than 29.
  • Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
  • Be at least 16 years of age by September 1st of the following year.

How to Apply

Applications are now open and available online at https://apply.loranscholar.ca/. Please note that the final application deadline for Grade 12 and CEGEP students planning to enter university in 2018 is October 25, 2017 at 8:00pm (Eastern Time).

Shortlisted sponsored candidates will be notified 2-3 weeks before their regional interview date. Shortlisted direct pool candidates will be notified in December.

Our application process takes place annually in September/October. There are two ways to apply for the Loran Award, with different deadlines.

Deadline for all sponsored applications to be submitted, including the reference form and school sponsorship confirmation.

Deadline for all direct pool applications, including the reference form.
