Rhodes University is most delighted to invite applications from students all over the world for the Guy Butler Research Award. This award is open to any student who will be pursuing full-time Postgraduate studies in one of the listed majors below. Varied amount of the award will be given depending on the study level. To apply, all required materials must be submitted by 2 October 2017.

Level and Area of Studies
Honors, master and doctoral program in the field of English Language, English Literature, English-in-Education, South African English Drama South African Journalism in English, Cultural studies focusing on English-related topics in Southern Africa and research in the area of English bilingualism, as an additional language.

Place of Study: At Rhodes University, South Africa.

Award Value
– Honours:  R45 000
– Masters:   R60 000
– Doctoral:   R80 000

Applicants’ Nationality: There is no nationality restriction (International).

Eligibility and Criteria
The award is open to any students pursuing full-time Postgraduate studies in one of the eligible courses mentioned above. They must demonstrate a strong academic record (grades 70% and above).

Application Instruction
Submit a covering motivation letter with the application form, including information regarding proposed studies, a detailed academic CV (including email contact details of three academic referees) and a full academic transcript.
