Ghent University PhD Grants-Joint Doctoral Programme in Arts and Archaeology in Belgium 2017


Ghent University is delighted to call on applicants for the  PhD Grants – Joint Doctoral Programme in Arts and Archaeology Starting from 1 October 2017. International students are eligible to apply for this grant.This program is with the objective of enabling predoctoral researchers obtain a doctoral degree within 4 years.Eligibility criteria is also a noteworthy information to all applicants.

Course Level: Grants are available to pursue PhD programme.

Study Subject: Grants are awarded in the field of Arts and Archaeology.

Scholarship Award: The amount of the scholarship is approximately € 1.958 per month, depending on the family status of the scholar. Based on the advice of the Research Council, a bench fee of € 7.440 (€ 310/month) will be awarded to the promoter per term of 2 years.

Number of Scholarships: Two grants are available.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

Requirements regarding the appointment of candidates

At the start of the BOF fellowship, candidates must qualify for a ‘dehousse scholarship’, which is a PhD scholarship exempted from taxation.


The PhD grant research proposal must be submitted English.

Nationality: International students are eligible to apply for this grant.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have their previous degree.

English Language Requirements: The language of communication of the JDP will be English. The taught part of the program will be in English.
