EU Applicants PhD Bursaries at DCU’s Institute of Education in Ireland, 2017

DCU’s Institute of Education is delighted to announce that she is offering a six new PhD bursaries for part-time studies with fees waived for the five years of their studies. This bursary is open to EU citizens only. This program is in line with the commitment of  Dublin City University’s aim to lead the world in research and education.

About:

The University has a particularly strong research record, is sometimes described as a research-led university, and has regularly been recorded as bringing in more research income per members of faculty – or indeed as a percentage of total income – than any other university in Ireland. Its research team working on sensors at the National Centre for Sensor Research is considered one of the best in the world.

Course Level: Bursaries are available to pursue PhD programme.

Study Subject: Please contact the relevant Head of School by email for guidance on potential supervisor/s currently researching within the disciplinary area of your proposed research study:

School of Arts Education & Movement, School of Human Development , School of Inclusive and Special Education, School of Language, Literacy & Early Childhood Education, School of Policy & Practice and School of STEM Education, Innovation & Global Studies.

Scholarship Award: This bursary will cover fees for part-time PhD study (up to a maximum of 5 years) and is open to applicants who register in Year 1 of part-time PhD studies in the DCU Institute of Education in September/October 2017.

Number of Scholarships:  A total of 6 bursaries will be offered, one Bursary for each School of the Institute of Education.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

  • Applicants are required to meet the PhD/ PhD-track entry requirements, as follows:
    • PhD: Applicants must hold a Master’s degree by research within the disciplinary area of Education or a cognate discipline in order to apply for direct entry to the PhD register.  Or,
  • PhD-track: Applicants must hold a taught Master’s degree with first- or second-class honours, or hold a primary degree with first- or second-class honours, grade one, within the disciplinary area of Education or a cognate discipline in order to be considered for entry to the PhD-track register.
  • Applicants must have the support of academic supervisor/s from one of the Schools in DCU Institute of Education, and of the relevant Head of School.
  • If non-native English speaker, applicants must present evidence of having the required standard of English Language competency, as specified here: http://www.dcu.ie/registry/english.shtml
  • Successful applicants must register with DCU Institute of Education as a Year 1 PhD student (part-time) for the academic session 2017/2018.

Nationality: This bursary is open to EU citizens only. The EU countries are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the UK.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must hold a taught Master’s degree with first- or second-class honours, or hold a primary degree with first- or second-class honours, grade one, within the disciplinary area of Education or a cognate discipline in order to be considered for entry to the PhD-track register.

English Language Requirements: If non-native English speaker, applicants must present evidence of having the required standard of English Language competency.
