Brief Description

The Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) is offering three postgraduate scholarships for Irish students. These scholarships are awarded to work on the development of optical/near infrared microwave kinetic inductance detectors (MKIDs) for use in astronomy.

About DIAS

The Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) is a statutory corporation established in 1940 under the Institute for Advanced Studies Act of that year. It is a publicly-funded independent centre for research in basic disciplines.

The candidate should have a very good command over the English language.

Course Level:

Scholarships are available for pursuing the postgraduate programme.

Study Subject:

Scholarships are awarded to work on the development of optical/near-infrared microwave kinetic inductance detectors (MKIDs) for use in astronomy.

Scholarship Benefits:

Funding is available for 4 years starting in November 2016 (the start date is negotiable) and includes a stipend, postgraduate university fees and provision for conference and workshop participation.

Eligibility:

A primary degree in physics, computer science, astronomy or a related field is required. Excellent programming skills are beneficial.

English Language Requirements: The candidate should have a very good command over the English language.
