The Global Development Network (GDN) is seeking to induct, as Research Fellows, up to 10 research professionals from ACP countries to constitute the inaugural research team.
The purpose of the Fellowships is to provide qualified young researchers interested in evaluation of Development Finance and Private Sector Development a practical opportunity to hone their impact assessment skills by working on real-world projects funded by one of the world’s leading financial institutions, under the guidance of top international experts in evaluation and impact assessment.
The Global Development Network (GDN) is a Public International Organization based in New Delhi, India, dedicated to supporting high-quality, policy-oriented research in the social sciences to promote development, working in particular through partnerships, capacity building and networking.
Applicants must have excellent professional written and oral communication skills in English. Some of the Fellows are expected to evaluate operations in countries where English is not the main spoken language
Course Level: Fellowships are available for pursuing research programme.
Study Subject: Fellowships are awarded in Applied Development Finance.
Scholarship Award: The Fellowship carries a total value of € 25,000 with an additional € 2,500 to cover operational expenses. Expenses incurred for the collection of data, including surveys, will also be covered under the program, subject to the availability of funds. GDN will provide research management, administrative and logistical support.

Eligibility: The program aims to fast track the professional development of promising young researchers and research professionals in the field of evaluation and impact assessment. The ideal candidates should be first-rate, early career researchers or research professionals at universities, think tanks, government, development institutions, or in professional transition. Those in employed positions are required to submit No Objection Certificates from their employers. The typical profile of an inductee should be as follows:
- Interest: Demonstrated interest in national and international development.
- Age: The program targets professionals of up to 35 years of age. However, slightly older, but otherwise qualified, candidates will also be considered.
- Academic training: Masters or PhD in a social scientific or related discipline with extensive quantitative training. Candidates majoring in engineering with significant exposure to the social sciences may also apply.
- Subject matter knowledge: Significant professional experience in evaluation and impact assessment, including in Private Sector Development and Development Finance. For PhDs without professional experience, the doctoral dissertation should be focused on evaluation and impact assessment.
- Communication skills: Demonstrated professional written and oral communication skills in English.
Nationality: Professionals from ACP countries are eligible to apply. Qualified women candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have a Masters or PhD in a social, scientific or related discipline with extensive quantitative training.

English Language Requirement: The Fellows should have excellent written and oral English skills. However, some of the Fellows are expected to evaluate operations in countries where English is not the main spoken language. For these positions, preference will be given to candidates with written and spoken fluency in French and/or the relevant local language.
